Lubrication of rough copper with few-layer graphene

چکیده

It has been demonstrated through experiments and simulations that friction decreases significantly when graphene is used as a solid lubricant on various materials. However, the effect of increasing number layers lubrication controversial. Some studies predict an increase with can be imputed to increased contact area, others decrease in attributed flexural rigidity layers. Herein, atomistic are performed investigate atomic mechanisms by which few-layers lubricate rough copper surfaces probed smooth tip. The results show drastically reduces friction, while deformation mechanism found change from wear recoverable flattening surface steps, amount interlocking between reduced.

Crystallographic etching of few-layer graphene.

We demonstrate a method by which few-layer graphene samples can be etched along crystallographic axes by thermally activated metallic nanoparticles. The technique results in long (>1 microm) crystallographic edges etched through to the insulating substrate, making the process potentially useful for atomically precise graphene device fabrication. This advance could enable atomically precise cons...

Flake Electrical Conductivity of Few-Layer Graphene

The Kubo formula for the electrical conductivity of per stratum of few-layer graphene, up to five, is analytically calculated in both simple and Bernal structures within the tight-binding Hamiltonian model and Green's function technique, compared with the single-layer one. The results show that, by increasing the layers of the graphene as well as the interlayer hopping of the nonhybridized p z ...

Magnetospectroscopy of epitaxial few-layer graphene

The inter-Landau level transitions observed in far-infrared transmission experiments on few-layer graphene samples show a behaviour characteristic of the linear dispersion expected in graphene. This behaviour persists in relatively thick samples, and is qualitatively different from that of thin samples of bulk graphite.

Fe-catalyzed Etching of Graphene and Few-layer Graphene

Fe-catalyzed etching of graphite and few-layer graphene (FLG) has been used to create channels with desired crystalline edges [1,2]. Due to the strong Fe-C interaction, graphene can be etched through either carbon hydrogenation or carbon dissolution into Fe alone. In this work, we investigated the Fecatalyzed etching of graphene and few-layer graphene (FLG) in forming gas (10% H2/90% N2) or N2....

Charge carriers in few-layer graphene films.

The nature of the charge carriers in 2D few-layer graphites (FLGs) has been recently questioned by transport measurements [K. S. Novoselov, Science 306, 666 (2004)10.1126/science.1102896] and a strong ambipolar electric field effect has been revealed. Our density functional calculations demonstrate that the electronic band dispersion near the Fermi level, and consequently the nature of the char...
